The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting firm. In this role, you will work directly under the Director/Partner, providing essential accounting, taxation, and business support services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending to clients' taxation and accounting requirements.
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships, trusts, and superannuation funds.
- Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
- Managing client relationships and responding to queries as needed.
- Reviewing and delegating work to onshore/offshore staff.
- Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and tax laws.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans.
- Advising clients on business improvements, cost reductions, and revenue growth opportunities.
- Preparing forecasts, budgets, and cash flow analysis for clients.
- Assisting in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and statutory reports.
- Collaborating with the internal team to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Training and mentoring junior staff members to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in an accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and Australian tax law for individuals, trusts, companies and SMSFs.
- Proficiency in preparing financial accounts, tax returns, and other lodgements.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workflow and work under pressure.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, MYOB, XERO, BGL.
- Leadership, customer service, and managerial skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or a related field.
- Australian citizens or candidates with full working rights are highly prioritized.
