About the Position:

The Accountant is a critical full-time role that ensures the financial integrity, compliance and strategic growth of Serin Towing & Recovery Pty Ltd. Reporting directly to management, you will oversee end-to-end financial operations in our fast-paced towing and transport environment, providing accurate reporting, insightful analysis and proactive financial management that directly supports business decisions and operational efficiency. This position plays a vital part in maintaining the financial health of our family-owned company while contributing to its continued expansion across Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports and management accounts.
  2. Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing for towing, recovery and transport jobs.
  3. Process payroll, employee entitlements and superannuation in line with Australian legislation.
  4. Ensure timely compliance with BAS, GST, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax and other statutory requirements.
  5. Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  6. Reconcile bank accounts, vehicle and equipment asset registers, and inventory records.
  7. Liaise with external accountants, auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
  8. Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide financial insights to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  1. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
  2. Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
  3. Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting experience.
  4. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero or MYOB) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  6. Excellent organisational and time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with operational teams and senior management.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team culture.
