About the Role

We are seeking to fill a full-time Chef position to work within our thriving commercial kitchen. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving culinary excellence, overseeing daily kitchen section operations, and delivering high-quality dishes that align with our hotel’s dining standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan creative and customer-focused menus, estimate accurate food and labour costs, and place timely orders for food supplies.

• Monitor the quality of all dishes at every stage of preparation, cooking and final presentation to maintain consistent culinary standards.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with hotel managers, kitchen and front-of-house staff to resolve any food preparation issues promptly.

• Supervise and coordinate the daily work of junior kitchen staff, including cooks and apprentices, ensuring efficient team workflow.

• Demonstrate professional cooking techniques and provide expert advice on proper cooking procedures to team members.

• Prepare and cook high-quality, delicious dishes to meet the hotel’s strict culinary requirements.

• Ensure full compliance with all health, safety and food hygiene regulations and standards at all times.

• Manage stock control and oversee daily kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.

Skills and Experience Required

• Hold a relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Certificate IV (or equivalent recognised qualification).

• A minimum of one year of relevant post-qualification professional experience in a commercial kitchen.

• Demonstrated ability to competently perform all key duties listed above.

• In-depth knowledge of diverse cooking methods, fresh ingredients, and commercial kitchen equipment.

• Strong leadership skills and excellent verbal communication skills to lead and collaborate with the kitchen team.

• Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work efficiently and calmly under high-pressure environments.

• A proven, unwavering commitment to food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.

• A passion for culinary excellence and dedication to delivering outstanding dining experiences.
