About the Position:

The Chef plays a central role at Golden Moment Cafe and Restaurant Pty Ltd by planning, preparing, and overseeing the creation of high-quality dishes that define the cafe’s menu and delight customers daily. This full-time position encompasses the full scope of kitchen operations in a busy cafe-restaurant setting, from menu execution and food preparation to quality control and team coordination, ensuring consistent standards across breakfast, lunch, and specialty offerings. The Chef is vital to the business’s success, directly contributing to its reputation for flavourful, fresh meals while supporting efficient service and a positive team dynamic in a fast-paced yet relaxed hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering supplies to support efficient kitchen operations
  2. Preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of breakfast, brunch, lunch dishes and specialties using locally sourced ingredients
  3. Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to maintain consistency and high standards
  4. Regulating cooking equipment temperatures, portioning food, and adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes for optimal plating
  5. Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations while ensuring compliance with food safety standards at all times
  6. Collaborating with managers and front-of-house staff to discuss food preparation issues and optimise service flow
  7. Demonstrating cooking techniques and contributing to a positive, efficient kitchen team environment

Requirements:

  1. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
  2. Certificate in Kitchen Management (or equivalent qualification).
  3. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  4. Required technical and interpersonal skills:
    • Proficiency in commercial kitchen operations, food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu execution

    • Excellent time management and ability to work effectively under pressure during peak service periods
