We are seeking a full-time CNC Wood Machinist to join our production team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision work, enjoys working with timber and composite materials, and thrives in a fast-paced, quality-driven fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machinery to cut, drill, and shape timber and wood-based materials such as MDF, plywood, and composite boards with a high level of accuracy.
- Interpret technical drawings and G-codes to produce exhibition and display components to exact dimensions and tolerances.
- Inspect and maintain quality of all timber and wood-based components, ensuring they meet design and fit-out standards before assembly or dispatch.
- Perform routine CNC maintenance, including tool changes, calibration, and cleaning to maintain optimum machine performance.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet project timelines, coordinate materials, and ensure a smooth assembly process.
- Assist with finishing tasks such as sanding, edging, and preparation for installation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workspace, adhering to WHS procedures at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 1 year of experience operating CNC machinery within a timber fabrication, joinery, or exhibition manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and programming code (G-code).
- Strong understanding of timber and wood-based material properties, including MDF, plywood, and composite boards.
- Relevant Certificate (e.g., in CNC machining, Cabinet Making, or Wood Technology) desired.
- Physically fit and capable of safely handling large sheet materials.
- Valid driver’s licence required; Forklift licence or WhiteCard certification advantageous.
