The opportunity:

Are you an experienced Cook looking to join a thriving café with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal produce and exceptional customer service? Cafe Momo, located in Bruce, ACT 2617, is seeking a talented full-time Cook to join our growing team.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Receive, check, and store kitchen food and trade supplies in accordance with procedures
2. Assist with food preparation and support the Chef in daily kitchen operations
3. Prepare ingredients and select appropriate herbs and spices to ensure balanced flavours
4. Monitor the quality and temperature of both raw and cooked food items
5. Deliver high-quality, timely prepared meals to ensure an excellent guest experience
6. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures
7. Implement cost-control measures and minimise food wastage
8. Maintain stock levels, including proper rotation and storage of food items
9. Safely handle kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils, and tools
10. Ensure all dishes are cooked properly, presented attractively, and served promptly
11. Carry out general kitchen duties as required and perform additional tasks as directed by the Head Chef
12. Adhere to cleaning schedules and maintain the cleanliness of all equipment and work areas
13. Monitor and report on food wastage and maintain portion control and consistency
14. Assemble and organise kitchen equipment and tools as needed
15. Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills with a positive attitude
16. Manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
17. Be flexible to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
18. Use knives safely and select the appropriate tools for each task
19. Assist in the presentation and plating of food to a high standard

Qualifications and Experience

1. AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
2. Demonstrated experience working as a Cook in a high-volume kitchen environment
3. Current Food Safety Supervisor certification
4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

What we're offering:

Annual salary- $ 75,000 to 77,500 plus superannuation
