Salary $75,000 - $85,000

Shavan’s @ Pakenham is a renowned North Indian restaurant celebrated for our authentic flavours and exceptional dining experience. We are looking for a qualified cook to join our culinary team

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare a range of high-quality meals for our customers
2. Help design new menu items
3. Help estimate stock requirements
4. Streamline processes between our wait staff and kitchen staff

Duties:

1. Prepare cooking ingredients
2. Clean food preparation areas, maintain hygiene standards, regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
3. Set up staff workstations with the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment
4. Inspecting food items to guarantee quality
5. Maintain customer expectations and accommodate guests with allergies
6. Monitor ingredient quality for freshness and storing in temperature-controlled facilities
7. Monitor stock levels and place orders
8. Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure they serve hot food
9. Operate kitchen appliances and cooking apparatus
10. Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes according to our expectations
11. Supervise and may train other kitchen staff and apprentices

Qualification, experience and skills:

1. Must have Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
2. Must have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
3. Passion for creating delicious and high-quality food.
4. Strong communication skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
