As a Senior Practitioner with the Department for Child Protection in Elizabeth, you will influence practice where it matters most. This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification, meaning it may be filled by either a qualified Senior Social Worker (AHP2) or Senior Professional Officer (PO2), depending on the qualifications and suitability of the successful applicant.

This is an opportunity to guide, coach and support social workers and case managers working with complex cases involving children and families. Working within a complex team environment, you will collaborate across the workforce and provide guidance to support strong outcomes for infants and families. You will provide expert advice, contribute to professional development and help shape quality practice across the service. If you are passionate about strengthening capability, supporting best practice and making a meaningful impact, this role offers scope to lead by example and drive positive change.

In this role, you will:

  1. Guide best practice case management across complex and high-risk matters
  2. Consult on legislation, policy and professional practice requirements
  3. Support workers to plan and deliver effective interventions
  4. Contribute to learning and development initiatives across the service.

To be successful:

You will be an experienced practitioner with strong professional judgement and the ability to support others in complex case management environments. You bring well developed skills in reviewing practice, providing constructive feedback and contributing to the professional growth of social workers and case managers. Your experience enables you to balance accountability with support, always keeping children and young people at the centre of decision making.

You will have sound knowledge of relevant legislation, social work and case management theories, and evidence informed approaches to practice. You are confident providing specialist advice, contributing to court processes and supporting quality assurance activities. Your ability to analyse complex information and develop practical recommendations will be essential.

You will be collaborative, approachable and committed to inclusive practice. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships and contribute positively to a safe and respectful workplace. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply.
